Zulily Review: Two Different Return Policies, Both Live

Zulily is a relaunched daily-deals retailer selling clothing, shoes, home goods, toys and beauty at steep discounts, shipped from a network of supplier partners. It is off-category for a site about GLP-1 medication, with one honest exception: if you are losing weight steadily, you are cycling through clothing sizes and cheap interim clothes are a rational purchase. That makes returns matter more for you than for most shoppers — which is unfortunate, because Zulily currently publishes two different return policies, on two live pages, that disagree by thirty days.

Our Verdict

Zulily · zulily.com · relaunched, running on Shopify

2.5 / 5
Affiliate disclosure: we earn 3% on orders placed through this page — about $1.20 on a $40 dress. It is a small commission on an off-category retailer, and we have written the review accordingly: mostly a warning about the returns terms, and one genuinely useful note about buying clothes while your size is moving.

60 days or 30 days, depending which page you land on

The page at /pages/returns states returns are accepted within 60 days of receipt. The page at /policies/refund-policy states returns are accepted within 30 days of receipt. Both were live when we checked and both are reachable from the site. A shopper trying to return something on day 45 has two published answers to the only question that matters, and no way to know which one the company will apply.

Processing quoted as both 3–5 days and two to four weeks

The same two pages disagree again. One says returns are processed 3-5 days after the item is received. The other says returns on average take two to four weeks to process. The gap between those is the difference between a refund landing before your card statement and a refund landing after it. Shipping quotes diverge too: 3–10 business days on one page, 3–14 on the other.

Free returns are a paid add-on

Returns are free only if you purchased return and order protection at checkout. Otherwise you buy a return label and the fee comes out of your refund. That is a legitimate model and it is disclosed. It also means the true cost of a garment you are unsure about is the price plus the returns insurance, which is worth factoring in before the discount looks compelling.

This is a relaunch, not a continuation

The About page opens Welcome to the New Zulily, says we're back, and describes rebuilding the experience from the ground up. Whatever you remember of the old Zulily — the good deals or the notoriously slow shipping — is not evidence about this operation. Judge it on current terms, of which the contradictory ones above are the most important.

What it does get right

A return window of some length genuinely exists, which is more than several retailers we have covered this month offer. Trying items on explicitly does not void a return. Damaged, defective or incorrect items get return shipping refunded as well. Orders cancelled for stock reasons are fully refunded. The shipping pages are honest that timelines vary because goods come from many supplier partners, and there is a published Authenticity Guarantee. Payment options are broad and mainstream.

The same terms, published twice, differently

All four figures read from the live site on 11 August 2026. Both sets of pages were reachable at the same time.

Term/pages/… version/policies/… versionAssume
Return window60 days30 days30 days
Return processing3–5 days2–4 weeks2–4 weeks
Delivery estimate3–14 business days3–10 business days3–14 business days
Non-returnableBoth agree: undergarments, mystery packs, and anything marked final saleConsistent

The likely explanation is mundane: a migration to Shopify left custom pages and Shopify's native policy pages both in place with different text. That explains how it happened without changing what it means for a customer. Two published commitments, one of them half the length of the other, and no indication anywhere on the site of which governs. Screenshot whichever page you relied on at the moment you buy.

Buying clothes when your size is a moving target

Why cheap interim clothing is the right instinct

Someone losing fifteen per cent of their body weight over a year — roughly what the semaglutide trials produced on average — will typically pass through two or three clothing sizes on the way. Nothing in your wardrobe fits for long, and buying well-made clothes at each stage is an expensive way to dress temporarily. Spending little on garments you expect to outgrow is a sensible response, and discount retailers are the obvious place to do it.

There is a real psychological dimension too, and it is worth naming. Wearing clothes that no longer fit is a daily reminder that sits oddly with progress, and a lot of people postpone buying anything on the reasoning that they will only need a smaller size soon. Two or three cheap items that fit now are usually better for how you feel than a wardrobe of things that hang off you.

But this is exactly where Zulily's weakness bites hardest. You are shopping with an unstable size, at a marketplace sourcing from hundreds of separate suppliers with no shared sizing standard, where you cannot try anything on first. You will guess wrong more often than a normal shopper — and the returns terms are the least certain part of the proposition.

Practical rules if you shop here mid-journey

  • Buy one item from a supplier before buying three. Sizing varies by vendor on a marketplace, and one test garment tells you what a size label means from that particular source.
  • Pay for the returns coverage on anything you are unsure about. Free returns are an add-on here, and on a moving size you will use them.
  • Treat 30 days as the return window and two to four weeks as the processing time, because those are the less generous of the two figures the company publishes.
  • Screenshot the returns page you relied on at the time of purchase, given that two conflicting versions exist.
  • Skip anything marked final sale, and remember undergarments and mystery packs cannot be returned at all — undergarments being a category where changing size matters most.
  • Consider secondhand and charity shops for interim sizes. They are cheaper still, you can try things on, and nothing needs returning.

In its favour

  • A genuine return window exists, and trying items on explicitly does not void it.
  • Damaged, defective or incorrect items get the return shipping refunded as well as the goods.
  • Orders cancelled for stock reasons are refunded in full.
  • Shipping pages are honest that timelines vary because goods ship from many supplier partners.
  • Broad mainstream payment options, and a published Authenticity Guarantee.
  • Deep discounts on a very wide range, updated daily.
  • Separate published pages for returns, refunds, shipping, privacy and terms.

Against it

  • Two live pages state the return window as 60 days and as 30 days.
  • The same pages state return processing as 3–5 days and as two to four weeks.
  • Shipping estimates differ between pages: 3–10 versus 3–14 business days.
  • Free returns require buying protection at checkout; otherwise the fee is deducted.
  • Undergarments, mystery packs and final-sale items cannot be returned at all.
  • Marketplace fulfilment from many suppliers means inconsistent sizing and variable delivery.
  • A relaunched brand, so historical reputation — positive or negative — tells you little.
  • Carries a Health & Wellness category we could not inspect; deep-discount supplements from mixed suppliers warrant caution.

Our verdict: 2.5 out of 5

A functioning discount marketplace that cannot currently tell you, from its own website, how long you have to return something.

There is nothing sinister here. Zulily is trading, its policies exist, its payment options are ordinary, and its shipping pages are refreshingly honest that a marketplace shipping from many suppliers cannot promise one delivery time. Several retailers we have reviewed this month would be improved by copying that candour.

The problem is that the most consequential term on the site is published twice with different numbers. Sixty days on one page, thirty on another. Processing in under a week on one, up to a month on the other. Delivery in ten business days or fourteen. All four figures were live simultaneously. The likely cause is a platform migration leaving two sets of policy pages in place, which explains the mechanics and changes nothing about the position a customer is in: two commitments, no stated hierarchy, and a dispute resolved by whichever the company chooses to apply.

For most shoppers that is an annoyance. For the specific reader who brought us here — someone buying inexpensive clothes because their body is changing shape faster than their wardrobe — it is closer to a structural problem. That shopper has an unstable size, no ability to try before buying, and a marketplace with no consistent sizing across suppliers. They will return things. Returns are the part of this retailer you can least rely on, and free returns cost extra.

So: 2.5. If you want cheap interim clothing while you lose weight, the instinct is right and the strategy is sound — just execute it somewhere the terms are unambiguous, or execute it here carefully. Buy one item before three, pay for the returns coverage, assume the thirty-day window and the four-week processing time, screenshot the policy page you relied on, and avoid final-sale and undergarment listings entirely. Or spend less again at a charity shop, where you can try things on and nothing ever needs returning.

Frequently asked questions

Is Zulily still in business?

Yes, and it is explicitly a relaunch. The About page opens with Welcome to the New Zulily and the line we're back, and says the company rebuilt the experience from the ground up. The site is live, trading daily, and now runs on Shopify. If you remember the original Zulily winding down, this is the brand operating again rather than the same continuous business, so past experience with it — good or bad — is not a reliable guide.

What is the actual return window?

That depends which of their pages you read, which is our central finding. The page at /pages/returns states returns are accepted within 60 days of receipt. The page at /policies/refund-policy states returns are accepted within 30 days of receipt. Both are live, both are reachable from the site, and they differ by a month on the single most important term a shopper needs. Assume 30 days, because that is the shorter of the two commitments the company has published.

How long do returns take to process?

Also contradictory. The /pages/returns version says returns are processed 3-5 days after the item is received. The /policies/refund-policy version says returns on average take two to four weeks to process. That is a difference between under a week and potentially a month before your money moves. Plan for the longer figure.

Are returns free?

Only if you pay for them upfront. The policy states returns are free if you purchased return and order protection at checkout; otherwise you buy a return label and the shipping fee is deducted from your refund. If an item arrives damaged, defective or wrong, they refund the return shipping too. Undergarments, mystery packs and anything marked final sale cannot be returned at all.

How fast is shipping?

Between three and ten business days, or between three and fourteen, depending again on which page you read — /policies/shipping-policy says 3–10, /pages/zulily-shipping-policy says 3–14. Both note that actual times vary with the fulfilment timelines of their supplier partners, which is the honest part: this is a marketplace shipping from many vendors rather than one warehouse.

Why is a GLP-1 site reviewing a discount retailer?

Because it came through our affiliate queue, and because there is one honest connection worth making. People losing fifteen to twenty per cent of their body weight pass through two or three clothing sizes, often in under a year, and buying expensive clothes you will shortly outgrow is a poor use of money. Cheap interim clothing is a genuinely sensible strategy. The catch is that it only works if returns work.

So should I buy clothes here while my size is changing?

Cautiously, and with the returns caveat front of mind. The shopper whose size is a moving target is precisely the shopper who guesses wrong most often — and a marketplace sourcing from hundreds of suppliers has no consistent sizing to learn. That combination means you will return more than usual at the retailer where returns are least predictable. Buy one item to test a brand's fit before buying three, and pay for the returns coverage if you buy clothing at all.

What about the Health and Wellness section?

Zulily now carries a Health & Wellness category including Fitness, Wellness, Period Care and Sexual Wellness. We could not see the individual products because the listings render client-side, so we make no claim about what is stocked there. We would simply note the general principle this site keeps arriving at: supplements bought at deep discount from a marketplace of many suppliers come with less provenance than supplements bought from a brand that names its testing lab.

Scope and health note

This is a review of a general merchandise retailer, published on a site about GLP-1 medication because it appeared in our affiliate queue. Clothing is not a health product and nothing here is medical advice. The reference to fifteen per cent weight loss describes an average outcome reported in semaglutide trials, not a prediction for any individual. Zulily lists a Health & Wellness category; we did not inspect its contents and make no claim about any product sold there. Dietary supplements are not FDA-approved and, wherever bought, should be discussed with a clinician or pharmacist if you take prescription medication.
