What is actually in the Microdose Mushroom Gummies?
Not what the name implies, and this is the finding on this page we would most want you to read. The mushrooms are the reassuring part: turkey tail, lion's mane, cordyceps and chaga, which are functional and adaptogenic rather than psychoactive. There is no psilocybin and no amanita — a genuine relief given what some brands put in products with similar names. The psychoactivity comes from elsewhere. The product also contains Himalayan mad honey and kanna, and the marketing promises a 'bright, functional buzz'. Mad honey is honey produced from rhododendron nectar and it contains grayanotoxins, which bind voltage-gated sodium channels and increase vagal activity. The documented clinical picture of grayanotoxin ingestion is nausea, vomiting, salivation, dizziness, weakness, hypotension, bradycardia and syncope, with severe cases producing rhythm disturbance up to complete atrioventricular block; treatment is atropine and intravenous fluids. It is rarely fatal and usually resolves within a day or two, and the dose in a gummy is presumably small — but this is a cardiovascular-active toxin sold as a mood product, and the name on the tub points at mushrooms. Kanna, separately, is serotonergic and is not something to combine casually with an SSRI.
Is that a problem specifically on a GLP-1?
It is a poor combination, yes, and worth spelling out. GLP-1 receptor agonists commonly cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea, particularly around dose increases, and the resulting fluid loss can already leave you lightheaded on standing. Grayanotoxins independently produce nausea, vomiting, hypotension and bradycardia. Stacking a substance that lowers blood pressure and slows the heart on top of a medication that is already depleting your volume is not a sensible experiment, and the symptoms overlap enough that you might attribute a genuine cardiovascular effect to your usual medication side effects. If you take an SSRI as well — common enough in this population — the kanna adds a serotonergic interaction on top. Our advice is simple: if you want to try CBDfx, the tinctures, capsules, topicals and standard gummies are the well-tested part of the range with a clean certificate behind them. Leave the mad honey product alone.
